Guides On Choosing A Flower Bouquet For An Occasion

A visit to a florist for the correct bouquet may be a bewildering experience, as every flower shop offers you an abundance of choices. But as there are connotations and human occasions associated with every flower, the job of choosing the right flower for a particular occasion becomes simpler. Knowledge of this meaning will help you to filter out those bouquets that won’t suit the occasion, and will help you find the correct one.

The idea of flowers reflecting states of mind has continued for several years, with the Victorians upholding it more strongly than the people of other eras. Red roses are for true love, and yellow ones represent platonic love or just plain friendship. Tulips and carnations too convey messages and emotions according to their different colours.

It is traditional and a prevalent practice to gift bouquets to a couple on their wedding day. In such cases, the best bet is to have bouquets and arrangements that mirror the theme or season of the marriage. If the wedding falls in spring, then a bouquet with spring flowers can be gifted to the couple, and in case of an old fashioned marriage a bouquet having a combination of white and red flowers can be gifted.

Colourful and bright flowers should be reserved for happy events like anniversaries and birthdays, and flowers like roses, daisies and chrysanthemums are the most appropriate for bouquets meant for such event s. On the other hand, for an event like a graduation, you can opt for something more subtle but still cheerful. Colourful lilies serve the purpose well, and a combination of two to three colours gives an added appeal to the arrangement.

Serious flowers like white carnations are the most suitable to mark an occasion of grief, like the recent death of a close acquaintance. A white wreath or bouquet implies that you as a presenter are wishing that the deceased person’s soul may find everlasting peace. However, vibrant flowers like tropical blooms are the best messengers of a get-well-soon message, and hence they are fit for presenting to people who are stuck to their bed on account of illness.

You might suddenly feel that selecting the right bouquet for an event is like doing a tightrope walk, but remember that a florist can always help you out if you have no idea how to proceed. Any good florist in Singapore will be delighted to help the customer in selecting the correct flowers for the event.
