How Coughing Turns Away People

Coughing isn’t cute. Though continuous coughing reminds people of dogs barking, coughing doesn’t have the same charm. In fact, people around you may see this as a cue to move away from you. That’s correct, coughing is a certain way to do if you wish to repel people.

Coughs are filled with virus. Whatever you cough is released into the air, which is exactly what frightens people around you. It is not inconceivable that whatever you have they will get too. A simple cough is already bad, how much worse can it get if you have a more critical ailment? And although people are not certain what you really have, they won’t take their chance. They will just stay away from you.

So don’t be offended if people start turning away their faces from you. It’s nothing personal. But while you can’t do anything about their way of thinking, you can do something about your cough.

That lingering cough that you have for days already may not subside with over-the-counter medicines anymore. When that happens, it’s time to see a doctor. Getting a medical appointment does not immediately mean that you have a worse ailment than just plain cough, but a doctor can help you figure out how to stop your problem from getting worse.

Go see a physician who specializes in Ear-Nose-Throat illnesses to help you see the root cause of your cough. He or she will prescribe medication depending on whether your cough is dry or wet or if it associated with the mucus from your sinus or lungs.

You can also try cheaper and more organic choices at home. Some swear by honey and lemon as drug substitutes. Home remedies are not only affordable, they are also filled with vitamins.

Don’t forget to work on your hygiene also when you have cough. Cover your mouth with a fresh hanky to prevent the germs from spreading and also repress the sound. That way, people won’t be alarmed too much when you cough.

If you wash your hands regularly and use antibacterial wipes, people would appreciate the effort. It just shows that you are thoughtful of others, not wanting them to be infected. You can also try lozenges to help cool down prickly throats.

Don’t take insult when people turn away from you when you have cough. Remember that it’s nothing personal.
