Interested In Becoming A CPA?
I have lived next to a CPA for a long time now, and there were many times while I was growing up that our conversations would turn to the subject of money. He always had an opinion on things and always seemed so smart. My brothers and I could always count on him to give us sound financial advice when we needed it.
It happened often enough that it inspired my brother to become a CPA and follow in the neighbor’s footsteps. My brother had never really been a great student, though, so I was a little surprised that he wanted to go through the whole process of becoming an accountant.
Being a CPA requires a lot of schooling, and there are a lot of regulations even after you become a professional. One of them is Continuing Professional Education, or CPE. There are many ways an accountant can fulfill his or her CPE requirements (online, in a classroom, or independently), and my brother decided to go the online route.
It was easy for him to find some step-by-step instructions that took him through the whole sign up process for the online CPE courses. I’ve never seen him so interested in anything before, so I believe he can actually do well in this field.
There are a lot of steps involved with becoming a CPA. It can be difficult for many people because of all the classes, courses, and tests you have to take. If you are good at numbers and enjoy finances, though, you can have a really rewarding career doing work you enjoy. Personally, I was never one of those people.
There is a lot that goes into becoming a CPA because your clients want to know they can trust you with their money. This is very important to their livelihood, and you really need to know your stuff if you are going to be a successful CPA.
I have heard horror stories where an accountant will mess up and cost the client a lot of money. Also it pays to be trustworthy so that people won’t accuse you of taking their money.
I have had my share of accounting classes in school, and I suppose I did well enough, but I was never really into it. My mind just wanders too much, sometimes. I do my own taxes, but I couldn’t be like my brother and go through the steps of becoming a CPA.
