The Art of Swimming Pool Maintenance

Those who have them they know it better that maintaining swimming pools is a tough task. People do not have any knowledge on cleaning the pools. Regular cleaning of pools is very important otherwise the water gets stagnated and becomes contaminated with debris, algae, and even germs.

Cleaning of your swimming pool should be done every fortnight. The filter used to clean the pool should also be maintained and replaced. Specified types of filters are used to clean your swimming pool.

Filters of various types are available for your swimming pool. Sand ” the bulletproof filter, Cartridge ” the economic low maintenance filter, and Diatomaceous Earth – the water polisher are the three types.

Sand filter is the most commonly and widely used filter. To make the filter more efficient one has to change the sand in the filter. Otherwise, the sand will wear out enough to allow dirt to penetrate so deep that normal back-washing doesn’t clean it completely.

Removing the old sand is the first step towards changing your sand. Disconnect the plumbing attached to the valve of the filter. Start digging out the sand once you have opened the filter.

Use a small plastic cup rather than a shovel to dig out the sand. Care should be taken that you do not break the laterals of your under-drain while digging the sand out. They are very fragile and are easily broken.

Once you have removed the sand, the next step is to examine the laterals. You can remove them easily by unscrewing it. Check it thoroughly for any damage or breakage, and if there is any damage, then replace it duly. Also, rinse it with a mixture of dilute acid and water to remove all dirt in it.

The tank should be rinsed thoroughly after replacing the laterals. keep on pouring water till the tank is half full. After that, start putting in the sand. After you have added the proper amount of sand, reassemble the filter tank and/or multiple port valve. Always call the plumber for your assistance in case you face any problem during this process.
